Christ Alone is Sufficient

Posted by on Oct 21, 2010 in J.C. Ryle, Quotes | 0 comments

There are multitudes of baptized men and women who profess to honour Christ, but in reality do Him great dishonour. They give Christ a certain place in their system of religion, but not the place which God intended Him to fill. Christ alone is not “all in all” to their souls. No! It is either Christ and the Church, or Christ and the sacraments,  or Christ and His ordained ministers, or Christ and their own repentance, or Christ and their own goodness, or Christ and their own prayers, or Christ and their own sincerity and charity, on which they practically rest their souls.

If any reader of this paper is a Christian of this kind, I warn him also plainly, that his religion is an offence to God. You are changing God’s plan of salvation into a plan of your own devising. You are in effect deposing Christ from His throne, by giving the glory due to Him to another.

My first attempt

This is my first attempt at kinetic typography!  I absolutely LOVE kinetic typography and it can really add a lot to a sermon.

This is a short ~25 second snippet from my pastor’s sermon on August 29, 2010 titled The Saviors Willing Humiliation.  The actual snippet starts about 5 minutes into the sermon.

Even after being brutally attacked by Muslims, the Christians remain peaceful and sing praises to God. Amazing!

The Way Home – Movie Review

Posted by on Sep 27, 2010 in Movies, Reviews | 0 comments

The Way Home, starring Dean Cain, is a movie based on a true story. Randy Simpkins is a hard working dad trying to provide for his family, though his wife, Christal, feels he is too focused with his work and doesn’t spend enough quality time with his family. While preparing for a family vacation, their two-year-old son, Joe, goes missing. The movie is about the whole community coming together to help find Joe.

I thought this was an excellent movie. It is definitely a tear jerker for the women, but it is still an excellent movie for men as well. I love how the community almost forms one family when they’re searching for Joe and the love within the Christian community is clearly shown as they pray for the Simpkins family and trust God while the search is going on.

If you get this DVD, I also recommend watching the extras where the cast interacts with the real Simpkins family and they talk about the actual event that happened 7-9 years ago. If you’re looking for a good, Christian movie to watch, I recommend this movie.
